Screw Compactor
Application
Various materials such as cellulose with SAP, tissue dust, fiberglass, wood fiber, and plastic dust can be compacted to increase bulk density. The screw compactor can be adjusted to process a variety of materials.
Operation
A cyclone with a rotary airlock feeds material into the screw compactor’s feed hopper. The hopper includes a viewing window for easy visual inspections. A variable speed screw transfers and compacts the material into the compaction section. The material is compacted to a 7:1 ratio at rates of 16 lbs./hr. to 94 lbs./hr. (7.4 kg/hr. to 42 kg/hr.) depending on the material. Once compacted, the material can be discharged into a collection bin, bulk bag, plastic bag, or various types of collection vessels.
Purpose
Compacting waste materials reduces volume. This results in savings of handling, storage, transport, and disposal. A slim-line design allows for easy integration into existing production lines and is engineered for 24-hour operation with low energy consumption. Material compaction also reduces nuisance dust conditions that cause negative working conditions.
